Not much in common...

It is Saturday here in Barcelona. There are kids playing soccer. There are parents watching. The ball is round. And that is about all the US and Spain have in common when it comes to the beautiful game.

That's basically what I learned from my day spent at the training grounds of FC Barcelona.

Today we got to watch training sessions and games of teams from u10 boys up to the FC Barca v. Athletic Bilbao.

It was incredible...

The skill and tactical understanding of the youth players was awesome. It was like watching a mini version of the first team.

EVERYTHING looks the same...

Uniforms, pre-game walk out, pre-game watering of the field (even for u10 boys), warm up, and even clapping for fans aka family and friends after the match.

And of course the style of play is a mirror image.

The day ended with a La Liga match which Barca won 5-1. Messi scored two goals and is one away from tying the record. Hopefully we will get to see that Tuesday in Champions League play.

Tomorrow we watch more youth games at Barcelona including the top women's team. I'm really looking forward to that.

Adios!
